In 2018, the NLFIA partnered with the Provincial Government, through the Cabinet Committee on Jobs, to support economic growth and foster private sector job creation through the development of a work plan for the forest sector.  Together with Ministers of the Cabinet Committee on Jobs, Indigenous governments and organizations, forest sector stakeholders, students, community, academic, and business leaders, a work plan was established to achieve the collective goal of growing the forest industry and stimulating new private sector employment. 
Through 32 action items, the work plan will establish the conditions necessary to sustainably manage our forest resources, diversify and generate new and expanding business activity, and increase private sector employment for residents in Newfoundland and Labrador.
